JUCCCE Energy Blueprint Website

Program Name:

JUCCCE Energy Blueprint website

Target Audience:

All stakeholders in the energy industry

Why does the JUCCCE Energy Blueprint matter?

The biggest barrier to international collaboration is simply lack of knowledge. Difficulties in sharing best practices, opaque networks, outdated and lack of information on statistics and policies are all easily addressed by today’s Web 2.0 technology.

How can the JUCCCE Energy Blueprint make an impact?

The JUCCCE Energy Blueprint is a web-enabled tool gives instant insight into each energy sector. It allows resources to be placed on areas where they can have the most impact. It catalyzes international and cross-sector partnerships to drive the type of innovation that can transform the industry. It will move people from "analysis paralysis" and conference overdoses towards working more effectively on “action that impacts”. In a large and fast-changing industry, the blueprint is a valuable decision making tool that will accelerate the greening of China.

By collecting the wisdom of the masses, the Blueprint will give an updated snapshot of each energy sector, from current policies and statistics, highest leverage areas, most promising programs, to the most influential people. Users can rank people and projects as well as to contribute to the editorial.

The Blueprint provides deep industry insight at a glance using a matrix of barriers and market goals. For example, in the solar industry a barrier is cost per kilowatt and a market goal is to reverse the high ratio of PV panels made in China that are exported out of the country instead to local deployment. The cells of the matrix will bubble up the projects that have the most hope for overcoming a barrier and achieving that goal.

A separate section will contain a Wikipedia-like function for listing most relevant statistics and policies, and be self-monitored by readers.

A listing of top advisors in the field will also be rankable by viewers. Initial advisors will come from the JUCCCE network, but viewers can also nominate others.

If programs fit into a sector’s matrix on barriers and design goals, they can be listed on our Blueprint.

  • Government entities can use it to promote new policies.

  • Companies can use it to seek investments, production partners and other resources.

  • Non-profit organizations can use it to promote programs.

Connectors will gravitate towards linking programs with resources.

Mavens and consultants wanting to establish credibility as experts in a field will contribute to statistics and policies.

Timeframe:

  • The design mockups were unveiled by the Chairman of Augmentum, Leonard Liu, at the JUCCCE China Energy Forum on November 10, 2008.

  • Volunteers and advisors have begun doing research to initially populate the website.

  • The beta site will launch 2Q09.

  • A later module will emphasize matchmaking of resources with projects.
